Apartment in Taconnaz, Chamonix Thought it was about time I updated this website; not least with our new (now 3 years old) contact details in Derbyshire. It has been really pleasing to see so many people rebooking the apartment which makes us feel that others like it as much as we do. We're also delighted that everyone is leaving it in such excellent condition and have been so thorough with the cleaning - many thanks. For those who haven't yet been, the apartment is in Taconnaz which is a pleasant area about 4 Km from Chamonix town centre. The drive from Geneve airport takes about one hour so easily accessible even for a long weekend. The apartment is in a quiet complex of similar buildings which were built around '94 but with a lot of character. Our apartment has a small west facing balcony which gets the late sun and has stunning views. The apartment also has the benefit of a large garage so tons of storage space for skis etc (excuse our rubbish in there). In brief the apartment has a good sized lounge with kitchen and dining areas, and open plan stairs leading to 2 bedrooms and bathroom. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom (which has sloping roof so limited headroom) has 2 singles which can be pushed together to form a double. There is also a double sofa bed in the lounge. For those who haven't yet been to Chamonix, go!! Apart from the vast skiing opportunities the area offers, there is also so much to do in the summer with excellent access right through the valley into the high mountains. If you prefer to simply take things easy, I can't think of anywhere in Europe where you could simply do nothing in more impressive surroundings. Getting to Geneve now couldn't be easier as most of the low cost airlines, if not all, fly to Geneve. Please see the flight/rental page for further details. Please note that as we are only renting the apartment to friends and not commercially, there is no cleaner so we kindly ask that you leave the apartment as you would like to find it (and hopefully did) yourself. If this is not the case please let us know as soon as possible. All cleaning materials are provided. Local info I've prepared a folder of information that you'll find in the apartment which may prove useful during your stay in Chamonix. However, if you come across useful pieces of information please add these to the folder because there are so many things to do, places to see and visit in Chamonix and the surrounding areas, that it is impossible for one person to provide a comprehensive list of everything that the valley has to offer. There are also maps, walking guides, off-piste ski guides etc in the apartment which are there for your use but please remember to leave them in the apartment and not take them home with you when you leave. Keys There are several sets of keys in the apartment plus the set I will have sent you before going out to Chamonix. Could you please send one set back to me when you're back in England. To lock the front door you need to lift the door handle first (many UK door locking systems now have this type of lock so you're probably already familiar with it). Heating All the electric radiators have been set to timed and should have been left on setting number 2 during the winter and * during the summer. Depending on the outside temperature you may need to increase this while you are out there but please return the setting to 2 (or *) before you leave. Hot water The water heater is timed to come on over night so you'll have plenty hot water for showers in the morning. If there is insufficient hot water during the day you may need to switch the water heater on at the main control unit in the cupboard by the front door. If you plan to have baths/showers in the evening, remember to switch the hot water on before you leave the apartment in the morning (the instructions are written inside the boot cupboard beside the switches). Things to take The main items you'll need include sheets, duvet covers, pillows, towels and tea towels. Slippers are also recommended as the downstairs floor is covered in ceramic tiles. The main bedroom has a double bed and the second bedroom has a single with pull out second single bed with legs allowing a double bed to be formed. The sofa in the lounge forms a double bed. There is a TV/video/DVD so take some videos and DVDs to watch (we have supplied a few). There is a mini hi-fi which takes CDs and cassettes. Hair dryer and plug adaptors are provided as are a range of games and books. If you have any problems or questions, please call me on:- Work/Home: 0044 1298 83611 Mobile: 0044 7836 503503. Finally, have a great time out there and we hope you enjoy Chamonix as much as we do. After your holiday we would welcome any comments you might have which may help us to improve things for the future. For the location of the aparmtment (Route de l'Ecole) Click Here |
