Summer in Chamonix Probably the only thing you won't find in Chamonix is a beach so if you're a committed beach worshipper, it's probably not for you but if you prefer an active, or even semi active holiday, give Chamonix a try. Apart from the fantastic scenery, Chamonix is just one huge playground. The place is geared totally to having fun and there are courses on just about everything you can think of. If you're a serious mountaineer, Chamonix will require no further comment. But there is so much more to do there than just serious mountaineering. For many typical UK climbers who don't like to walk further than 5 minutes from the car, Chamonix is perfect. The Chamonix and neighbouring valleys are full of multi-pitch crags which are fully bolted and less than 10 minutes walk from the car park. Needless to say the walking, either at low level or medium level is stunning. There are plenty cable cars throughout the valley to get you quickly up into the mountains. But just to list briefly some of the other possibilities they inlcude, paragliding, mountain biking, rafting, horse riding, canyoning, hydrospeed, summer tobogganing, tennis, golf, squash, bowling, skating, fishing, heli and aircraft flights, go-karting, fitness trails and simply lying in the sun.
